The EU and China: The Balance Sheet

In the build-up to the 15th EU-China Summit (held in Brussels on 20 September 2012),  ECRAN hosted an event at Chatham House in London (17 September) on the theme of 'The EU and China: The Balance Sheet'. ECRAN Inaugural Annual Conference, Brussels

The ECRAN inaugural annual conference took place in Brussels on 18 October 2011. The event opened with words from ECRAN Team Leader Kerry Brown, who was joined by Franz Jessen, Head of the China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Mongolia Unit at EEAS and Wang Hongjian, Chargé d'affaires for the Mission of the People's Republic of China to the EU. Opening remarks were followed by a keynote speech from Lord Davidson, former Advocate General for Scotland, and sessions on each of ECRAN's key themes - society, economics and politics - closing with a session on environment.  Read more about this eventthe full article

ECRAN Launch Event - Brussels

The ECRAN launch event was held at Madariaga – College of Europe Foundation in Brussels on 25 May 2011. The event opened with words from former German Defence Minister Rudolf Scharping and Franz Jessen, Head of the China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Mongolia Unit at EEAS. This was followed by an introduction to ECRAN by Team Leader Kerry Brown, who explained the main objectives of the project and how to get involved. ECRAN Key Experts, Shujie Yao and Lina Song, gave presentations on China’s economy and its relevance to the EU, and Europe’s role in addressing the key challenges for China’s social development. Andrew Small of the German Marshall Fund of the United States spoke on China’s international role in the coming five years and its relevance to Europe. Read more about this eventthe full article
